Farzanah, what so special about amplang anyway?
Well, first thing first the savoury fish cracker was very popular in Borneo. Actually, amplang is traditionally associated with samaunda, Indonesia but amplang is mainly produced in Sabah, especially in Tawau.
Amplang was made with mackerel. Mackerel has higher protein compared to nuts. There is no food colouring, not greasy and easy to carry anywhere. Useully, a good amplang can last about a year.
Now I get why you like to brought amplang everytime you comeback. We can eat this at anytime.
