- As you can see, everyone is hard at work preparing for the next Canadian Federal Election! Today, I'll be taking you kids to tour the house of commons.
- But Miss! What's an election?

- That's a great question! A political party is a group of organized people who have the same values and ideologies about how the country should be run. There are many different parties, all with different leaders and ideals.
- There are 343 seats in the House of Commons. To form a majority government, a party need at least 172 seats (50%). This will allow them to govern the country, as well as elect the prime minister

- We need many different parties to accommodate many different people. People who have different values and needs will support different parties, based on their campaign
- For example, if someone were looking to buy their first house, they might supoort the liberals, who have promised to dedicate $76 million to affordable housing
