- This is my Grandpa. When he was a little boy, his family was severely impacted by the Great Depression! Today, he is going to teach me about it and take me to places that are related to the Great Depression.
- WOW! Tell me more about when you were little grandpa!!!
- When I was 8, Franklin Roosevelt was elected president and thus began "The New Deal". The New Deal was a program that provided relief, recovery, and reform for the US during the Great Depression. It was a great program because for the first time in a while, we were hopeful for the future.
- *FLASHBACK TO 1932, WHEN GRANDPA WAS LITTLE*
- We never had much but the great depression has wiped my family clean! Both my parents lost their jobs and 25% of our country is unemployed. Hopefully President Roosevelt will help us!
- Hello, it is me Franklin Roosevelt. Do not fret little boy! I promise in the few years I will have the unemployment rate down to 10%, thanks to The New Deal and the 3 R's!
- Wow Grandpa! Its really neat how FDR gave all those people jobs in such a quick manner. He must've did he job better than the president before him. What else did President Roosevelt do?
- President Roosevelt established programs that followed the structure of relief, reform and recovery! A few examples of these programs would be the WPA, which helped to recover our country, and the CCC which provided relief to our country. Believe it or not, theres a few examples of these programs in our town. Would you like to see?
