- Hey, What are we learning about today?
- We Both agree, aren't we always confused
- Well I think you guys need a reminder on types of Energy! Don't you think ?
- SO WHAT ARE WE LEARNING ABOUT AGAIN? OH RIGHT THE TYPES OF ENERGY!
- Apparently so I've always wondered what types of energy there and what they are used for
- Well you guys are both in luck today as we are going to be defining 8 types of energy today which are very important for you two to know.
- Wait Sir I remember now, kinetic energy is a form of energy that an object or particle has by reason of its motion. Basically anything that moves are examples of that form.
- The energies that we are defining today include: kinetic, heat, light, sound, electrical, elastic potential, gravitational potential chemical potential energy
- My parents had also told me that heat energy is the result of movement of tiny particles called atoms, molecules or ions in solids, liquids gases.
- Okay then, light energy is a kind of kinetic energy with the ability to make types of light visible to human eyes.Some examples include: bulbs, lasers hot objects
- Sound energy is the physical vibration waves that travel through the air to reach the ears signalling to the brain to interpret incoming sounds.
- You know, you guys are absolutely correct let me what else you know so we can see what things we had in common about what we know !
- Thank you sir. Anyways moving on Elastic Potential Energy is energy stored as a result of applying a force to deform an elastic object.Examples include: a bent diving board, a bouncy ball, coil spring of a wind-up clock etc.
- Electrical energy is energy derived as a result of movement of electrically charged particles.Some examples are: batteries, lightening and many more.
- Now i don't really feel like a science teacher if i'm not telling you some things to add on your expert knowledge. I shall explain one type too !
- Gravitational potential energy is energy an object possesses because of its position in a gravitational field.An example is a rollercoaster
- One more form of energy we were going to discuss was chemical potential energy.Chemical potential energy is energy which is stored in the bonds of chemical compounds like molecules atoms.-examples of it are batteries, natural gas coal.
