  • NON-MENDELIAN INHERITANCE
  • Good morning, class! Today, we are going to talk about the Non-Mendelian Inheritance.
  • I already group you into two, and each of you had already the assigned topic. Now, let's proceed.
  • Okay, ma'am
  • As for the Codominance example, we have the most common which is the AB blood type.
  • Incomplete dominance causes the two alleles to blend together, resulting in a third phenotype that is a combination of the two. The phenotype created has little resemblance to either parent.
  • I am Almira together with my partner Alex. We are going to discuss Incomplete Dominance, Codominance, and Multiple Alleles.
  • INCOMPLETE DOMINANCE, and CODOMINANCE
  • The second one is the Codominance. Both alleles are expressed in the progeny in codominance. When a red flower and a white flower are crossed, the result is flowers with red and white spots. On the offspring, both parent phenotypes are visible.
  • Let's begin first with Incomplete Dominance.Incomplete dominance causes the two alleles to blend together, resulting in a third phenotype that is a combination of the two. The phenotype created has little resemblance to either parent.
  • As an example of multiple alleles, we have the ABO blood system.
  • And for the Polygenic inheritance, we have human height, weight, and skin color.
  • That is all for our presentation today. Thank you!
  • MULTIPLE ALLELES, AND POLYGENIC INHERITANCE
  • As per the Polygenic Inheritance, When two or more genes control the same trait, it is known as polygenic inheritance. Genes are frequently large in number but little in effect.
  • We will now proceed with Multiple Alleles. When a trait is controlled by more than two alleles, multiple alleles is described, and even if a trait is controlled by more than two alleles, each offspring only inherits two.
  • And for the Sex Linked Inheritance example hemophilia, red-green color blindness, congenital night blindness,
  • For the lethal allele example, we have the human diseases caused by recessive lethal alleles include cystic fibrosis, sickle-cell anemia, and achondroplasia
  • LETHAL ALLELES, AND SEX LINKED INHERITANCE
  • Good day! We are the second reporters for today. We will discuss about Lethal Alleles, Sex Linked, Sex Influence, and Sex Limited Inheritance.
  • The next one is the Sex Linked Inheritance. Sex linked occurs in which a gene is located on a sex chromosome. These traits are influenced by genes on the X chromosome in humans because the X chromosome is larger and contains more genes than the Y chromosome.
  • To begin with, we have here Lethal Alleles.Alleles that induce death in the organism that bears them are known as lethal alleles. Depending on the genes involved, lethal alleles are recessive, dominant, or conditional.
  • And for the Sex Limited Inheritance example, we have here lactation, or milk production. Although the genes for producing milk are carried by both males and females, only lactating females express these genes.
  • LETHAL ALLELES, AND SEX LINKED INHERITANCE
  • That is all for our presentation today. Thank you!
  • As an example for Sex Influenced Inheritance, we have soft facial hair in females vs coarse facial hairs in males.
  • And last but not the least, we have the Sex Limited Inheritance.Genes on autosomes determine sex-limited traits, which are expressed or visible only in one sex. Sexual dimorphism is caused by them.
  • We'll move on to Sex Influenced Inheritance now. Sex-influenced traits are autosomal traits that are impacted by sex but do not express themselves differently in men and women.
  • ALL ABOUT NON-MENDELIAN INHERITANCE
  • Job well done, class! I am impressed with your reporting.
  • I hope that you learned a very useful information regarding the Non-Mendelian Inheritance.
  • You can all go now. Class dismissed.
  • Thank you, ma'am!
