- The Harlem Hellfighters were the first Black Infantry Unit in American History.
- YES SIR!
- Come on men, we're going to help the French!
- Do you guys want to join the military?
- The Hellfighters were formed by a New York mayor just before the US entered WWI. Most of the members signed up to be in the Marching Band.
- A Black man joining the military... crazy times.
- Sure, why not?
- ARE YOU GUYS CRAZY?!
- The Hellfighters had a short stay in South Carolina before being transferred to France due to the racism they experienced there. Even though they were serving their country, they were not liked by most.
- Don't worry men, we're getting transferred to France. No more of this!
- I swear...
- GET OUT OF HERE NEGRO!
- The Men fought valiantly alongside the French, so much so that they were given the French medal, the Croixde Buerre.
- COME ON MEN!!
- The Harlem Hellfighters sustained many casualties, and spent more time on the front lines than any other unit. A parade was thrown when they returned.
- They did it!
- I miss my friend...
- The Harlem Hellfighters weren't recognized for their actions or given any awards from America until President Barack Obama gave some of the members the Medal of Honor after they died in 2015.
