This is our farm. Because of places like this many interesting innovations are being made to make work easier but sadly at the cost of my labor. This is because these innovations favor men. I used to help my husband with my own scythe, but a new heavier version has come out that is too heavy for me to use. Machines are also starting to replace us women and we are being forced to find jobs despite the low pay in order to provide. My work on the farm is starting to no longer become needed.

due to this, I may actually soon be working as a hand spinner, but I am a bit reluctant because I hear that they have made a machine for this too called a spinning jenny that can do what we do but faster. However, I hear that the cottage industry is in need of work so I may look there instead. There I would mostly be stitching and knitting various items but as I said before, the pay is poor so I could possibly become a servant for a landed or commercial family.

The reason as to why we are treated differently is because men think the work, we do is more associated with the home rather than a factory. Another thing is that due to the new technology, men think this is the only work we know how to do and that the only reason we work is to help our husbands' income. Thank you for visiting my home and taking the time to learn about me, but I have to get to work now.
