Hi, I'm Kizzmekia Corbett! I'm studying here as a Meyerhoff Scholar in a program that mentors minorities and women in science.
I'm the president of the university, and I'm proud to say that Corbett's ability to take to people really makes her stand out, as it is crucial for scientists to be able to connect with people.
!!Only 2% of students who graduate with a STEM degree are black!!
I'm proud of the positive impact my visibility as a black woman in STEM! Prejudice against minorities and women is prevalent among both scientists and those who scientists serve, so it is important for people to see scientists like me in the field.
