Mr. Eckels arrives at Time Safari Inc. with the intention of tracking down a Tyrannosaurus Rex. He is extremely concerned about the dangers that the time Safari impose.
The rules and his fear deter Eckels from doing what he wanted.
Why does the building look different?

The man attempted to scare Eckels out of the Safari. The hunters were warned by Tarvis not to stray from the path under any circumstances. Maintain your position on the Path. Don't stray from the path.

Eckels began to have second thoughts when he saw the dinosaur. He decided against shooting the dinosaur. Eckels was told to go hide in the Machine by Lesperance. Eckels, on the other hand, went the wrong way. Eckels stepped off the path while the other hunters, Travis, and Lesperance, were shooting the dinosaur.
Everything had changed by the time they returned to the present. Everything, including the president and the sign.
Eckels realized that he had changed the future because he killed the butterfly when he stepped off the path. Travis was enraged, so he shot Eckels.
