  • Well, if Ethan says alcohol can be good for sleeping, it must work. He would never lie to me!
  • Later that night...
  • That night...
  • Without stopping to consider whether he should listen to Ethan or not, Jack made the crass decision of believing Ethan and drank the entire bottle of alcohol before bed.
  • Tossing and turning, Jack couldn't find one peaceful wink of sleep. He woke up with intense urges to pee, his heart was racing, and he had a hard time breathing through his nose

  • A few weeks later...
  • Well? How have you been sleeping, Jack? The alcohol helped, right?
  • NO, Ethan! Alcohol only made me feel slightly drowsy! Other than that, that was the worst sleep of my life! I kept waking in the middle of the night, I had to go pee almost every hour, and my nose felt congested the whole night! I couldn't stay asleep for more than an hour because of alcohol. I knew I shouldn't have listened to you at all!

  • With that, Jack learned two important lessons: that alcohol does not help with sleep and that he needed to research topics before fully trusting someone's words.
  • From that day forth, Jack began finding healthier alternatives to fixing his sleep schedule. He talked to trusted peers and mental health professionals to quit his alcoholic tendencies and initiated a routine to fix his sleep schedule. By implementing exercise, routines against alcoholic urges, and relaxing hobbies, Jack eliminated alcohol from his daily life and successfully rehabilitated himself.
