- Aah! Can't wait to drink some cold water from this plastic water bottle.
- Hey! Plastic is very bad for the environment. They never degrade, so they take up lots of unwanted space. They also produce lots of chemical pollution, create microplastics that kill animals, pollute environments like the ocean, and have infected animals that we eat. So we're eating plastic too!
- That's terrible! If it's so bad, why did people start using it?

- I know that plastic is super cheap. I guess that made people want to use it so much. They'd be spending a lot less money.
- Well, after World War II, plastic became really popular and accessible material. In the 60's and 70's, people began using plastic a lot.
- Because of that a lot of everyday items are made from plastic. These include water bottles, coffee cups, plastic bags, straws, and utensils
- There are also containers, food packaging, canned drinks, tape, and even clothes!

- But there are lots of ways to reduce this. We can use cloth bags when we get to the grocery. We can use glass containers instead of plastic ones. And we can use reusable water bottles that don't need to be thrown away.
- Wow! That's all so cool! I know I'll be doing my part to help reduce plastic and save the environment!
