- This speech Martin had given turned out to be his last. He talked about many things in his speech including the death threats that he had received.
- "Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I am not concerned about that now."
- At around dinner time there was a special report on the flash saying that Martin Luther King Jr. is dead. That was such a hard night for so many people.

- MLK has been pronounced dead
- Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. It devastated many people. On that day he had gone to help garbage workers who wanted more pay and he was going to lead a nonviolent protest for it.

- After Martin Luther kings death the flag wasn't at half-staff. This angered a lot of people because the flag shouldn't be at full-staff.

- Arlam was one of people angered by this and barged into the principals office asking "why isn't the flag at half-staff?" He was told it was the ROTC program so he went to them too and they claimed they will have it taken care of. He also made up his mind that if the flag wasn't half staff by the bell him and other people were going to take the flag completely down.
- WHY IS THE FLAG NOT HALF-STAFF
- Many people along with King had risked and given their lives for the civil rights movement. Those peoples stories will still live on and be told till this day. The movement didn't end with Martin's death it continued and even peaked.
