- After feeling out of place at Gatsby's party Nick runs into Jordan Baker and her friend Lucille who says that Gatsby was a German spy during war.

- Nick and Jordan go outside to watch entertainment when they are sitting with a handsome man he recognizes Nick and he introduces himself as the Jay Gatsby
- Nick becomes fascinated by Gatsby and observes him intensely.
