- The ordinary World:After William has died and spent a few centuries in hell, Azrael finds him and offers him a deal after taking him to purgatory
- Meeting the Mentor
- The Call To Action:In purgatory, Azrael says that William will be gifted entry into heaven if he collects souls for him
- Crossing The Threshold
- The Refusal / acceptance of the call:William goes to the overworld and finds a sinner, harvesting his soul under a bridge
- Road of Trials
- Meeting the Mentor:William after taking the soul, goes to an out-cove to reflect on what he did, and a spirit from purgatory named Amon arrives to help him on his journey
- Crossing the Threshold: William delivers the soul to Azreal in purgatory, appeasing him for now before leaving for the overworld once more,
- Road of Trials:In the overworld, Amon guides William to find an ancient dagger to defeat Azrael, who Amon knows is lying to Will about granting him acess to heaven
