Muy Bien Gracias. Quería preguntarte un poco sobre tu juventud.
Hola! Muy Bien, gracias. Y Tu?
Well, I grew up in Guatemala in a typical neighborhood. Many people in the area were poor and few completed high school. I lived with my Mama, my Papa, and my siblings. We would help our mother sell tortillas and thread.
Lo Siento. That sounds terrible. What was your later life like?¿Cuáles fueron algunos de sus primeros trabajos?
Wow. Que interesante! Coca-Cola is a big company. Did you like working for them? Did you make an impact at all?
My first job was working at a print shop. I later worked at an ice cream factory and then a bakery before I became a salesman at the Coca-Cola bottling plant in 1979.
Si. I did. Before I occupied the Coca-Cola plant, in the 1980’s many workers were tortured and killed. In addition, many were kidnapped as well. In 1984, some new owners took over the plant and tried to shut it down.
We responded by occupying the plant. We stayed at the plant for an entire year before a new group of investors purchased the franchise.
Wow. that's inceible! It sounded like you made a huge and much-apreiciated impact. I would just like to thank you for your time. It was amazing getting to talk with you.
Gracias. It was great sharing with you. Adios!
