  • You're a dead man, he warned the skinny red-haired boy, giving him a hard shove. He laughed when he saw fear in Peter's eyes.
  • PERSON vs. PERSON How does the dialogue featured in the example impact the conflict of the story? When Cole beats up Peter, that causes Cole to go into the Circle Justice program. During the meetings, Cole fights and yells at most people there ending him up on an island almost dying and coming back and almost going to jail.
  • PERSON vs. SELFHow does the dialogue featured in the example impact the conflict of the story? After when Cole tried to burn down the cabin, he then tried to escape which then led him to almost drowning in the water. After he tried to do this, he then stopped trying to escape and later into the story, he was thinking about doing it when he was on the island alone.
  • A sharp cramp gripped Cole's leg, then his other leg started cramping. He grasped for breath and panicked (Mikaelsen 49).
  • No more! No more! he moaned. Please, no more! (Mikaelsen 91).
  • PERSON vs. NATUREHow does the dialogue featured in the example impact the conflict of the story? Cole learned his lesson to not come near the bear. He wanted to kill the Spirit Bear at first but, after when the bear almost killed him, he didn't want to come near it anymore. This changes how Cole thinks later on into the story. His perspective changes and his actions change.
