Like father, like son, they proceeded to both hop on the horse and trott along. Their horse was old and not the strongest, but the two men didn’t consider this. They walked, and trotted, and strolled, and scampered, and the horse began to get tired. Her legs began to tremble, but this didn’t come across the two boys mind.
By the time the father and the son realized the horse’s shaking legs, it was too late. Their horse’s legs had given out and it collapsed to the ground. The father and son flew off the horse and tumbled to the ground. The father and son lay on the ground, for the big tumble injured both of them.
“Try to please all, and you’ll end up pleasing none.”
As the two look up after the spill, they are surprised to see a wise elderly man standing over them. His clothes look worn, but his friendly face makes the two feel comforted. The man explains that he had watched them walk through town and observed all the mistakes they made. They based their actions on what the townspeople thought time and time again. Sometimes the best option is to do you and not please others and the wise man told them this lesson in the simplest best way possible.
