- Barnum a young boy and Charity a young girl is what the story is started with. Barnum in this story is a boy who grew up poor, and Charity is a girl who grew up rich and wealthy. Although Charitys parents don't want her to be with Barnum, Charity ends up deciding that she wanted to be with him. Then later they start a life together.

- Barnum starts a circus. In this circus Barnum is trying to get people who are trying to hide because they are afraid of their identity. He wants the circus to be a a place for people who want to break free. Although people are making fun of and teasing the people the circus continues!

- Jenny Lind kisses Barnum which lead to Charity leaving Barnum. Barnum wanted as much fame as could have and takes an opportunity with Jenny Lind which made Charity sad as he was going too far. Barnum brought many people with unique identities in the circus which made people mad and burn the circus down.
- Barnum realizes that he's hurt he's loved one by chasing for as much fame as he could have. Charity left Barnum for his mistake causing Barnum to realize his mistakes. He realizes that fame is less important then many things especially his loved ones.
- The circus was the main setting of this story. It served as a place where people with unique identities stopped hiding. The circus was a place for everyone to break free.
