- well, Lizzie, covalent bonding is when elements share electrons with one another to stabilize the atoms, they do this by giving each one enough electerons to have 8 valence elctrons in the final energy level.

- well covalent bonds happen to stabilize atoms and it happens when the atoms do not have a full valence level of electrons.
- ok, but when and why do covalent bonds occur?
- Atoms will covalently bond with other atoms in order to gain more stability, which is gained by forming a full electron shell.
