- Seljuk Turks took over Jerusalem, harassed pilgrims, and marched over Constantinople. The Byzantine emperor asked Pope Urban II for help. Urban agreed, and called for a crusade to free the Holy land.
- Yes my Lord.
- We should make them obey!
- King Louis VII of France and the German Emperor led the second crusade. Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine joined this crusade as well. However, this crusade failed because the leaders argued, and the crusaders were treated with disrespect so they were unable to gain trust and support.
- I don't think we should.
- Many people joined the first crusade and it was a success, even though many were killed on the way. They took the Muslim kingdoms with the advantage of surprise. This encouraged them to make a second crusade.
- Come and fight to cleanse your sins as a crusader!
- Come on, lets join!
- The fall of Jerusalem made them make a third crusade. It was organized with the rulers of England, France, and Germany. The crusade was called Crusade of Kings
- Run and don't look back!

- Richard I of England became the leader of the third Crusade. The crusade ended when Saladin and Richard signed the peace treaty. And later a fourth crusade was made.

- The fourth crusade raided Constantinople, the rich Byzantine capital. They stole relics, gold, and attacked women. The pope who sent them was furious and embarrassed. The Byzantines didn't forgive the Catholic Christians.
