  • Man, I wish I could expand my land past the mountain.
  • Sugar Act

  • The proclamation of 1763 stopped the colonists from expanding past the Applichian Mountains. These were made to appease the natives from the French and Indian War. This angered the colonists because it prevented them from expanding.
  • Townshend Acts
  • The sugar act put taxes on sugar. The colonists protested this. Britain eventually got rid of these taxes.
  • Boston Massacre
  • After the British got rid of the sugar act, they made the Stamp Act. Britain has very creative naming system. The Stamp Act puts a tax on stamps!!! The colonies fought this tax, and the British got rid of this one too.
  • Boston Tea Party
  • The townshend Acts put taxes on a lot of items. These items included tea, and paper. And taxing tea was too much. The British pushed too hard.
  • The Boston Massacre happened on March 5, 1770. British Men killed 5 colonists. This was a bad idea, because the colonies used this as propaganda.
  • The colonies were very upset on the taxes on tea, so a bunch of colonists dressed up as natives, dumped millions of dollars worth of tea into the Boston Harbor. This was a huge loss for Britain. So, they were uderstandably angry.
