Storyboard Text

  • The turn of the twentieth century was the dawn of a new era for transportation history. Two American brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright, made the first official powered flight in 1903. They created the first airplane. The first airplane use was in WW1. Around the Wright brother created the first airplane, French inventors Paul Cornu started developing a rotorcraft. On November 13th, 1907, his "Cornu" helicopter lifted off the ground!

  • It didn't take long after air travel took of for humans to start considering going up into space. The Soviet Union surprised most of the western world in 1957 with it's successful launch of Sputnik, the first satellite to reach space. 4 years later Russia followed that by sending the first human into space. These events would spark a "space race" between the USA and the Soviet Union. On July 20th, 1969, the lunar module of the Apollo spacecraft, carrying Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, reached the moon successfully.
