- When Desiree was talking about Stella she states,"One evening, a year later , Desiree came home from Dixie Laundry to find an empty apartment. All of Stella's clothes, all of her things, gone. Like she'd never been there at all. There was a note behind in Stellas careful hand: Sorry honey but i've got to go my own way" (Bennett 61). One of Stellas biggest actions was leaving her twin sister with no explanation. Leaving only a short hand written letter in their room.
- What actions do they take?
- Stella admits her thoughts while she was pregnant and states, "The idea of pregnancy terrified her;she imagined pushing out a baby that grew darker and darker, Blake recoiling in horror"(Bennett 151). When Stella was pregnant with Kennedy the whole time she was worried about if she would have a dark skinned baby or not. She even contemplated what her lie would be if such a thing happened.
- What do they think?
- When Jude gets back home from her interaction with Stella she says,"You were right," she said. "You were right about everything. I should've never gone looking--" "Its ok," he said, You wanted to know them. Now you do. Now you can move"(Bennett 252). Jude didn't expect to be greeted with such hospitality from Stella. It hurt Jude to know that Stella wanted nothing to do with her or their family, after how hard Desiree had been looking for her.
