  • Brian and Racoon RickyTRUTH TRAVELLERS
  • I CANT BELIEVE ITS NOT BUTER!
  • AREAS ONCE BUSY WITH PEOPLE FALL SILENT...
  • NEWS PAPERS MAGAZINES READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!
  • Are you seeing what I'm seeing?
  • SOMETIME IN 2016
  • Well, we time traveled and this is the location for the meet Ricky. We've been tasked with aiding a contact within the government believed to fall victim to influence and multiple forms of bias. We need to make sure the contact gets an understanding of the purpose of bias and multiple forms of its use.
  • AS OTHER AREAS BECOME DEAFENING.
  • Mr. Baker, all I can do is show you what threats to free thought are out there, and we have more to show you.
  • Mr. Baker, I have been tasked with showing you the importance of understanding bias and forms of influence that can avert a lot of damages within the United States. Most important being trust with the government and security state of the country.
  • Because we're from the future and we actually time travelled. You know how much that costs? Let's go!
  • Since we're here, do you have any stock tips for me from the future?
  • What makes you think I need assistance?
  • SOMETIME IN 2020
  • Mr. Baker, I have chosen this location because it will be your ultimate downfall, as well as a major point of contention with the American people.
  • I think we better check in.
  • Oh Yes!! There have been talks circulating around the office about Trump colluding with the Russian government, which is something I am willing to investigate with the full force of the FBI. However, there hasn't been anything or anyone willing to verify that claim.
  • This guy is a loose cannon! He's already fallen victim to his own confirmation bias, he just hasn't acted on it yet!!!He's primed to fall for anything!
  • Mr. Baker! How baked are you? You are primed to fall victim to ACCESS BIAS!
  • Mr. Baker, while this is not a direct effect by Russian actors, it is a visible example of outcomes by social media and the biases they carry. Before we go into Russian influence lets discuss some things that can show how easily it can be manipulated. During the 2016 presidential election a data analytics company sold their services to the highest bidder offering a change in outcome of elections. This UK based company claimed to have as much as 4000 to 5000 data points on American citizens. Data points that were gained from social media quizzes and other forms of illicitation. With the data models they had, they knew exactly which target markets to engage with heavy forms of NEGATIVE AND VISUAL BIAS as well as other forms. The inundation of these posts created a sense of doom and gloom for one candidate or the other. These biased forms of media were then directly broadcasted to markets that where voters were on the fence for certain candidates and most importantly in swing states.
  • You're going to fall for it when someone comes in claiming to have information proving your notions on candidate Trump. When this person comes into your office, you are going to buy it hook line and sinker because he works with encryption and cybersecurity. It's going to sound legit but won't hold water. You will become a pawn in a campaign designed to breakdown trust in the presidential candidate.
  • Sounds like a plan! You know I love to rummage through the discards of news to find facts, like a racoon in a trash can!
  • Maybe! But people come up to me all the time telling me stuff. I am the FBI!Speaking of baked, what's the weed policy like in the future?
  • Hi, I'm James A Baker, General Counsel to the FBI.
  • Over recent years, the rate of social media's ability to engage and audience has increased. Conversely, print media has seen a substantial decline in readership. This opens a whole avenue for information operations by any entity to sway public opinion. In fact, 25 of America's top newspapers by circulation have seen a 12% year-over-year decline with exception to one small area in Florida that has seen a 3% increase by retired persons. This creates a vacuum that is being filled by digital news. The point to remember here is while print media generates its revenue from subscriptions and sales of the paper with some advertisements, digital media is primarily funded through advertisements, creating a need to get more looks for revenue. More clicks, more money. Enter bias.
  • We're on a time crunch and we need to get moving Ricky-Tic!
  • And flashy images and snappy headlines bring the money!
  • I can assume the fire and brimstone grab the most attention!
  • You Can! NEGATIVE BIAS appears to be one of the more effective forms of bias as it survives in the mind much longer. According to the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS) study of cross-national evidence of negativity bias in psychophysiological reactions to news, it suggests that humans in an effort for survival gravitate to bad news and remember more closely as a means for self-preservation. Coupled with the fact that people generally think things are better in their own life will see this sharp contrast and give information received a higher level of clout.
  • Mr. Baker, welcome to the future! As you can see the population in this metropolitan area is violent. This is an example of how the spread of misinformation can control large populations of people. This is almost a nightly event. Cities will push out law enforcement over distrust. Buildings will burn, and people will end up dead. All for fighting for a cause they believed to be absolutely true!
  • I can see how elections and government policy can become compromised, but what do you have about outside governments on this matter?
  • I don't see how this can all be from Russian influence though.
  • ST. PETERSBURG, FL. JULY 2022
  • Give him the smoke!
  • Mr. Baker, we are standing in front of one of many UHRU houses where earlier today your G-Men conducted a simultaneous raid with another house in St. Louis.
  • Sure thing! UHRU is a political theory on African internationalism. Essentially stating that capitalism came about through attacks on Africa and its people. They follow political theories founded by Vladimir Lenin. Some of their goals being anti-colonialism and dissolution of law enforcement.
  • It's almost like the US has a price tag with a 4-year lease option. What else you got?
  • Can you please fill me in on UHRU and Russian involvement?
  • Thanks Ricky. More precisely your FBI was investigating group leaders and ties to Russian, Aleksandr Viktorovich Ionov who is being charged with interference with US elections by use of political social groups, and inciting division within the US. According to the indictment filed, Ionov had sponsored multiple groups and maintained communication for the purpose of increasing the Russian Federation's sphere of influence by use of separatist groups which piggyback on already tense situations within the US.
  • Don't forget to mention that in those communications, Ionov was actively working to create conflict regarding the U.S. support to Ukraine. Pushing that NARRATIVE BIAS can be coupled with VISAUL to further Russia's objective. These actions typically coincide with larger government actions to create the illusion that one government was working in the interest of another governments people, further creating dissent in the object country's democracy and security state. This as well as BAD NEWS is how they began the invasion in Ukraine.
  • Well Mr. Baker, I hope we were able to offer you some guidance identifying media bias, there purpose, and use in society. Just be on the lookout! These tricky articles have a way of enticing the subconscious. Vigilance, and vetting will be your best weapons in countering the influence of bias. Most importantly though, you must always ask yourself why anything is being presented to you. Bias can only work if there is something for it to exist upon. Kind of makes you wonder about what might not be easily presented.
  • Just remember Mr. Baker, you can't con an honest John. So be objective in the information you receive because you might be surprised that the biggest bias of them all might be your own!
  • Looks like he might understand some form of bias now, let's show him a real world example.
  • Thank you, guys! I'll be sure to keep an eye out for bias in media. I'm still a little unsure why it was me you chose to time travel the truth with but I'm happy for the trip.
  • Brian and Racoon Ricky wish you the best in your hunt for the truth!
