- I had a test, and i think I faled it. he had some white cards with ink spilled all over them. He sed Charlie what do you see on this card. I told him I saw a inkblot. I dint see nuthing in the ink but he said there was picturs there other pepul saw some picturs.
- Charlie can't remember things and has low IQ.

- I must not become emotional. As I review the record and data on Algernon, I see that although he is still in his physical infancy, he has regressed mentally. As long as I am able to write, I will continue to record my thoughts in these progress reports. However, by all indications, my own mental deterioation will be very rapid. I have already begun to notice signs of emotional iinstabilitiy and forgetfulness, the first symptoms of the burnout.

- Deterioration progressing. I have become absent minded. Algernon died two days ago. I picked up a copy of an article I used in my research, Krueger's "Uber psychische Ganzheit," to see if it would help me understand what I had done. Then I realized I could no longer read German. I tested myself in other languages. All gone.
- Charlie lost his pet, named Algernon, and is planning to leave New York after going back to 68 IQ
