  • Hi today I'm going to talk about Brahmin and what is. Also the things that they do.
  • A Brahmin is a member of the highest caste or varna in Hinduism. The Brahmins are the caste from which Hindu priests are drawn, and are responsible for teaching and maintaining sacred knowledge. Hindus can understand the term "priest" to mean any one of a number of things. It has been the simplest translation for the word "Brahmin."
  • It has been the simplest translation for the word "Brahmin." Second, it could refer to the priest, known as the purohita, who comes home to conduct the domestic rituals and sacraments (samskaras). Third, it could mean the person who does. Brahmin People who acts as officials at temples, conducting or assisting on worship, are known as a “pujari” or priests. Their main duty is to act as intermediaries between the worshipers and god.
  • The Brahmins held the most power in Hindu society , they were priests, otherwise known as the spiritual and intellectual leaders of the society. “They devoted their time to studying, teaching, performing sacrifices, and officiating religious services” (Nigosian 136).
  • Brahmins are the highest ranking caste group and are the top of the varna system above Kshatriyas, Vaisyas and Sudras. Brahmins have traditionally been priests, either in temples or to particular families and have traditionally been better educated, held high positions and had land and money. Also the day of the life of a Brahmins is the traditional occupation of Brahmins was that of priesthood at the Hindu temples or at socio-religious ceremonies and rite of passage rituals such as solemnising a wedding with hymns and prayers. Theoretically, the Brahmins have the highest ritual status of the four social classes.
