In this scene, the characters Flora, Max, and William are introduced and propose and opportunity to Flora, that would benefit one if they win the bet of turning a girl from a poor background into a wealthy/professional-looking girl on the outside. And if people will notice how it will make a difference in society.

Max and William took Flora to a gala, where people were interested in Flora, because of how respectful and formal she looked. Although Flora made it through the night, she hated every minute of it and made sure she left a strong message to them before she left.
