- -Informal Diction is used around family or friends.
- -Formal Diction is used in a professional setting around people you don't know well.
- -Slang changes over time and with generation. Typically used within a specific group of people.
- -Colloquial Diction is a mixture of Informal words and Slang that can vary on geographical setting.
- Informal
- I am trying to be honest with you, go vacuum!
- "Make sure you vacuum your carpet."
- "Noooo, your not my Mum so don't tell me what to do!"
- Formal

- It’s the fact that you dropped the tortilla and didn’t reference a vine: “ Hurricane Katrina more like hurricane tortilla”
