The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street Theme: Mankind Is its worst enemy
He got the car started somehow!
One of the main themes in The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street by Rod Serling is that mankind is it's worst enemy. An example is "He got the car started somehow. He got the his car started! All by itself. He wasn't anywhere near it. It started all by itself."(75-76). My evidence supports the theme because they think les is an alien and got his car to start all by itself and it causes them to turn on les and start accusing him. Another example is "Go ahead Steve. What kind of radio set you workin on? I've never seen it. Neither has anyone else."(81). This evidence supports my theme because now they think Steve is the alien after they accused les. My last example is "It's it's the kid. It's Tommy. He's the one."(84). This supports my theme because Charile is even accusing a kid so he wouldn't be suspicious of being an alien. In conclusion I believe mankind is it's worst enemy.
