- The definition for imperialism is when a large nation attempts to take a smaller nation for its own. When a country tries to imperialise another country they aren't always successful and sometimes leads to other countries trying to get back at that country. A example of a country imperializing another country is the Europeancountries imperializing Africancountries. How the colonies benefited the “mother country” because people were fighting for the same country and it started to bring in more and more countries to help defend that country and also brought more people to help fight for that country. How this started to bring conflict to start WWI was Europeancountries were imperializing Africancountries. Then these countries started to go against each other and tried to gain control of more countries. This led to a competition and started to bring them together to see who can imperialize the most countries.
