Slide: 2
What When?In May 1987, Grace Hayden was raped and suffocated with a pillow. When an officer was reviewing the then-unresolved case, he found a single fingerprint from a left ring finger on Hayden's kitchen stove. It was this fingerprint that led law enforcement officials to a match to 62-year-old Kevin Ford. Although Ford had been ignored regarding the murder in California, invesitgators discovered he had a warrant out for his arrest due to threats he made in 2015. It was this arrest that matched Ford's fingerprints to the ones found at the scene of the crime.
“But the police got the wrong man. Whoever did this is either dead or still running around free. I didn’t do it. God knows I didn’t do it.”
Outcome?Throughout the trial Ford claimed that he was innocent, even going so far to condemn those that could ever do something like this to his mother or grandmother. Despite all of this, a San Fransisco jury convicted him of "murder and special-circumstance allegations of murder in the commission of rape and murder in the commission of a burglary" in the summer of 2018, as well as forcing him to spend a life sentence in prison.
