- Laia's home was raided by a mask and legionnaires because they saw Darin with Resistance members that they caught and tortured for information. Darin as a journal with drawings of the Weapon's Quarter that he isn't supposed to know about and the mask is trying to find the journal. Laia tells him where it is out of fear.
- Where's the sketchbook?
- It's outside the small bedroom window. In the hedge.
- After Laia tells the Mask where the journal is he begins to question Darin and threatens Nan and Pop when he doesn't give answers the Mask wants. The mask threatens Darin with prison and Pop speaks up in defense and asks for them to not take Darin.
- Don't take him, please. He's just a boy.
- You were seen with Scholar rebels yesterday and they gave us your name before they were killed.
- The mask didn't like that Pop spoke out against him so he kills Pop. This causes Nan to rush forward and scream.
- NOOOOOOO!!!
- After Nan screams she stumbles towards the Mask, but before she can get to him, the Mask slices her throat and she dies. The Mask then tells the legionnaires to take Darin and burn down the home.
- Get the boy out of here . . . and burn this place down.
- While Darin is being taken away, the Mask walks towards Laia with evil intentions. Darin is scared for Laia so he tells her to run they take Darin away to interrogate him.
- Run, little girl . . .
- Laia! Run!
- Laia runs away from her home, while it goes up in flames from a fire that the legionnaires started. She runs off to find the Resistance to see if they will help her find Darin again and save him.
