- Hey, what is that weird spinning thing?
- I don't know, it looks like it's turning from the wind. Maybe this farmer guy can tell us.
- Hello sir! Would you tell us what this spinny tower is?
- I think it is called a wind mill...
- Hi there i'm Joe the farmer. That is right. This is a windmill which powers my farm and helps the environment.
- How does it work?
- Well it all starts with the wind which blows the blades causing them to rotate. Once the rotor blades start spinning, they begin to drive the generator. This generator uses the movement to create 60 cycle AC electricity. To make sure the rotor blades do not spin too fast, an anemometer measures the wind speed which helps a controller slow down the blades.
- My wife can explain to you why it is good for the environment, if you can find her!
- Ugh i'm tired, are we there yet?

- Yeah, can you tell us how that wind mill helps the environment?
- Yes of course. Many other ways of getting energy like burning fossil fuels send back chemicals into the air and pollutes the earth. But using energy from the wind does not use fuel or power and has a much lower cost.
- Therefore, this way of getting energy produces no harmful chemicals, does not hurt the Earth and saves money for our farm!
- Wow thank you so much. Now we know wind turbines are a good choice for the keeping the Earth clean.
