- the boys realize they are stuck on a island
- yes. there are pigs on the island
- all the same you need an army for hunting pigs
- were on a island we been on the mountain and seen water all around
- the boy with the birthmark holds the conch
- you only get those in big countries like Africa or India
- now he says it was a beastie
- he wants to know what your going to do about the snake thing
- here- let me go !,mind out give em back!
- the fire signal gets started
- his specs- use them as burning glasses !
- piggy! have you got any matches?
- ralph is blowing the conch, the sun is out so ralph sits on a tree trunk with his left side to the sun. piggy was sitting near but did not help, ralph tells the boys that they are surrounded by water then jack breaks in, saying there are pigs on the island
- keeping the fire signal lit
- ralph ill split up the choir my hunters that is into groups and we'll be responsible for keeping the fire going
- ralph announces rules to the boys and whoever holds the conch will be able to speak. a 6 year old boy with a birthmark on his face holds the conch to speak and mentions the night before he seen a snake like beastie. jack tells the boys if they see the beastie they will hunt and kill it
- hunting and building shelters
- we should act sensibly and focus on building shelters we also don't know how many of us there is
- if there's so much of a beastie we will hunt it and kill it, and we will hunt pigs for our survival until we get saved
- the boys are trying to light a fire on the beach to let off a signal to any nearby boats in the water to help them get rescued but they don t know how to start the fire, ralph comes up with a smart idea and takes piggy's glasses and put it in the sun to get the wood to get on fire
- the boy with the birthmark dies
- we need to build shelters ,we don't know how many of us there is
- the fire gets lit from the glass of piggy's glasses and the boys team up to find more materials like wood to keep there fire lit, the boys get excited when they get the fire to start because this is the only way they will be able to notify passing ships in the sea for help
- more wood! all of you get more wood!
- even though the boys would not trust piggy as the leader of the group he comes up with the brightest ideas that may help the boys get recued, like building shelters, then jack mentions there are pigs on the island to hunt and kill for survival
- piggy notices that the boy with the birthmark is nowhere to be found after the fire is out., so he probably knows that he been killed by the fire due to lack of responsibility, this is why the boy is not seen later in the story after chapter 2
