This is hum commanding his soldiersThis fits into background because it explains General Zaroff's life before the story is set.
- "He struggled up to the surface and tried to cry out...the salt water in his open mouth made him gag and strangle"This scene shows Rainsford as he has fallen off other the yacht and is struggling to catch back up to it.This fits into the rising action because it is the beginning part of the story that leads up to the most exciting part.
- "The dining room which Ivan had conducted him was in many ways remarkable... At the great table the General was sitting.This scene shows the conversation Rainsford and Zaroff had at the table when he discovered what the General had actually hunted.This falls into the climax because it is the most exciting part when the idea of hunting on the island was changed.
