  • 1. Navigation Acts(1651)
  • To Britain
  • Sir, you must turn around, you can only export your tobacco to England and no other country
  • What did you say?
  • The British are always levying unjust taxes on us, all we are trying to do is make an honest living
  • Nothing
  • To Spain
  • 2. Stamp Act(March 22, 1765)
  • Don't you think it's infuriating about how everything on this table is taxed
  • YES! And we don't even get representation in Parliament. As the Sons of Liberty say "No taxation without Representation"
  • 3. Quartering Act(March 24, 1765)
  • Don't you just hate how the British can just walk in here and take our houses and we get the worst places to sleep
  • Even worse we have to feed, clothe, and pay for them. I'm keeping their money, food, and flag on the floor
  • The Navigation Acts were passed in 1651 to help the English with their shipping industry and trade relations the colonies and other countries. This event was important, because the colonists would have been extremely angry since they were already losing money. Now due to the restrictions of the Navigation Act they can only export some of their products to only England, so they are losing even more money.
  • Boston Massacre(March 5, 1770)
  • We're not going to. What are you going to do about it?
  • Disperse Now Immediately
  • The Stamp Act was passed in 1765 to help the English pay for the soldiers stationed in the colonies. The Stamp Act required colonists to pay a tax on many common items such as playing cards, stamps, papers and certificates. This was important, because many of the common things that the colonists used were taxed and they didn't even get any representation in Parliament where taxes were created
  • 5. Coercive Acts/Intolerable Acts(1774)
  • The Port of Boston is now closed, by order of the Coercive Acts
  • The Quartering Act was passed in 1765 to help the British by receiving housing and payments for the soldiers that were stationed in the colonies, while also gaining money from the tax associated with it. The Quartering Act made it mandatory that the colonies had to house, clothe, feed, and pay for British soldiers. This was important, because the colonists didn't even want the British there, but they still had to pay for them
  • Second Continental Congress(May 10, 1775)
  • George Washington. Duh
  • The Boston Massacre occurred in 1770, and it was a standoff between English soldiers and a crowd of colonists. The colonists provoked the British soldiers, and then someone yelled Fire and chaos followed with soldiers shooting and colonists running away. This was important, because based on the way the famous painting of the Boston Massacre was painted colonists believed that British soldiers fired on innocent colonists and it infuriated many colonists.
  • King Street
  • The Port
  • This...
  • The Intolerable Acts were passed in 1774 in retaliation for the Boston Tea Party. The British shut down the Port of Boston, royal governors had more authority, the upper house of the Massachusetts legislature was removed, and the Quartering Act became more powerful. This was important, because some colonists didn't really support the Patriots, but now they did because their jobs were gone and they had no choice
  • Seriously.. This too, the British government doesn't care for us at all, its time to break away.
  • The 2nd Continental Congress met in 1775 and it was a convention of delegates from the thirteen colonies; their purpose was to coordinate the war effort and start to create a government. This was important, because they adopted the Declaration of Independence meaning they were officially separated from Great Britain and were a free and independent country called the United States of America.
  • I believe millennials would call it social distancing, but I don't know because as you can tell I am a boomer.
  • Hey why are you guys so far away from each other
  • Who do you guys think should be the general of the army
