Hi I'm Amal Abdel-Hakim. I am a Australian-Palestinian-Muslim 16 year old. I'm trying to decide if I want to wear the hijab all of the time.
So I made a list.
I know that there are lots of people who will support me but I'm not sure about everybody, there could be a decent amount of people who would be not ok with it.
And I really want to wear it but I'm scared how people will react
The people I'm most worried about is the people at my school, McCleans Preparatory. It is predominantly populated by white students and staff.
To Wear or Not to Wear

I've made up my mind. I'm going to wear a hijab all the time, proudly and I'm not going the people at McCleans change that.

And it's a perfect time to start because the term is about to start.
I wonder what Adam will think. He is the guy I have a crush on.

Lower your voice and speak to us with some respect.
Are you sure about this?
Why don't you talk to her today and wear it tomorrow?
You are going to have to talk to your principal. If only you made an appointment.
Firstly, that makes it an open discussion with her. Secondly, I want to start the moment I walk through those gates. An third of all...
100%
I would've except it was the holidays.
When I first came to McCleans she asked me where I lived and said that I probably live for condo money. My head scarf will add to fuel of facially targeted comments
Tia and her group of mini-mes are always snickering about someone but now it will be about me
I totally bluffed my confidence to my parents. I'm so nervous.
