  • Before this class, I didn't know anything about anthropology. But after diving into the introductory videos, I got a solid handle on what it's all about. Turns out, there are four main areas: cultural anthropology, biological/physical anthropology, archaeology, and linguistic anthropology. Plus, there's this fifth one that's all about using anthropology to tackle today's issues. Pretty cool, right?
  • So, cultural anthropology is all about studying how different societies do their thing - their beliefs, customs, you name it. Biological/Physical Anthropology dives into the science side of humans and our primate buddies. Archaeology is like being a real-life Indiana Jones, digging up ancient stuff to piece together the past. Linguistic anthropology is all about language and how it shapes who we are as people.
  • And then there's applied anthropology, which is basically putting all that knowledge to work to solve real-world problems. Think of it like anthropology in action, helping out with stuff like public health, education, and social justice. Overall, this class totally opened my eyes to how anthropology isn't just about studying the past - it's about making a difference right now.
