  • Where am I ??
  • Oh my! How could a satyr be out here, on my grounds ??
  • I see you have greatly honored my Silenus(the satyr)."I wish to reward you. Wine, Women or song?"
  • Thank You, Dionysus.....I wish for money...GOLD!
  • I wish everything I touch turns to gold.
  • Easy done.
  • One Day, a beast called a satyr a friend of Dionysus was partying all night. After he was was finished he staggered out of the woods and into the palace grounds of Midas, king of Phrygia. He lay down between the rose bushes and fell into a deep sleep. Not knowing where he was.
  • .............................
  • Daughter!!!!! What a curse!
  • Early in the morning Midas was informed that there was a satyr , that had been sleeping in his rose garden all night. He quickly ordered that he be given a bed in the palace until he felt better. There he remained, snoring loudly and smelling like – well, a goat for almost another day.
  • "LORD!! save me from this cursed metal!"
  • such a fool....
  • A few days after Silenus had left, Midas was walking in his rose garden when he heard some strange but lovely music. He followed the sound and discovered a beautiful man. He knew right away that the stranger was one of the gods and he fell down on his knees.
  • Finally...I can live my life
  • Midas was running around his palace in joy. Everything he touched from apples to flower blossoms turned to solid gold. In excitement he ran up to his daughter and hugged her explaining his powers but she wasn't there she was a metal golden statue.
  • Midas he realized the cruelty of his gift., and called out to lord Dionysus to save him from such a curse. Dionysus heard him and took pity on the foolish King. He appeared sitting on the edge of the fountain and said, "Go to the river that flows by the great city's of Sardis, and go in the water."
  • Midas did as he was told, and when he plunged into the stream the banks and the flowers that grew on them became yellow and golden. But Midas emerged from the waters free of his wish for riches and gold. So as long as he lived, he rejoiced in all that was simple and natural.
