Joliet and Jaques were the first European men to explore Native Americans. They were trying to find a passage way to Asia, And they started traveling by canoe ( May 17, 1673 ) half way through came upon a Native village. In the LLinios area.
Later yearshe continued traveling to the Arkansas River area. A Native American tribe was ready and was going to attack! The area was called St. Louis, but then the Native Americans saw peace in Joliet. the Native Americans took Joliet and Jacques to their village. There were Spanish settlers. but Joliet and Jacques found out, Mississippi led to the golf of Mexico. But they found a short route back home.
