- Mathile is at home waiting for her husband to get the beef stew. She is sad that she cant be rich and beautifly like the other girls.

- The husband gives Mathile a invitation to the ball party. Mathile cries because she has nothing to wear and the husband gives her 400 frances

- Mathline friend is super rich and gives mathline a necklace for the party. She is super excited with this necklace and can't wait for the ball.
- resolution
- Mathilde loose the necklace that her friend gave her after the party. She starts crying is despair while her husband spends all morning looking for it. They don't find it and decide to work up enough to buy a new one.
- They find a new necklace and have to spend 10 years working for it. They have to move up into a attic and she has to clean and cook. The husband goes out working and borrowing money.
- Mathilde goes on a walk after a weeks of work and finds her old friend after 10 years. She cant even recognize Mathilde because of how old she looks. Mathilde begins to blame her friend for all of the yeas she worked just to find out the original necklace was a fake.
