- Consider the various connections between the hydrosphere and the atmosphere. The hydrosphere's evaporation supplies the medium for the development of clouds and rain in the atmosphere. Rainwater is returned to the hydrosphere by the atmosphere.
- What connection exists between the geosphere and the hydrosphere? Water gives rocks in the geosphere the moisture and medium they need to weather and erode. In turn, the geosphere offers a surface on which ice melts and water bodies can flow back into the oceans.
- The geosphere receives the heat and energy it needs from the atmosphere to erode and break down rocks. The energy of the sun is then reflected back into the atmosphere by the geosphere.
- The atmosphere provides the biosphere with gases, heat, and sunlight (energy). It receives a living medium from the geosphere and water from the hydrosphere.
- The atmosphere's gases and sunshine reach the biosphere. It gathers a living medium from the geosphere and water from the hydrosphere.
- There are times when all four spheres are found together. For instance, the soil may contain elements from the geosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere, as well as air spaces between the soil particles and living organisms from the biosphere. This leads us to the conclusion that life as we know it is a result of the entire system.
