- Elie assumes that his father would choose the community over his own family and is therefore feeling neglected, and does not understand why his father would do so
- Moisten the Beadle tries to warn the Jews of Sighet, I’m his attempt of signalling the Jews of his experience of what he had escaped from the people refused to believe and listen to him.

- Elie was separated from his mother and his sisters but luckily ended up with his father to cope through the atrocities of Aushwitz
- On the seventh day of the Passover, the situation only started to become worse, prohibiting dues to not leave their residence for 3 days, with the consequence of death.
