- Did you get your son circumcised? We did because we did some research and found out that there is a lower risk of UTIs during his first year and also his penis will be easier to keep clean.
- We did not have our son circumcised. We also did research and found out that there are risks and complications associated with the surgery and there could be a lot of pain during and after the surgery.
- There is also lowered rates of some STIs later in life. There is also protection against penile cancer associated with a circumcision.
- Maybe so, but there is a potential impact on sexual pleasure as he gets older. The glans of his penis could also get irritated from not being protected by the foreskin.
- Our research showed us there is no foreskin related issues such as phimosis which is the inability to retract the foreskin and paraphimosis which is the inability to return the foreskin to its original location. They say babies forget all about the pain shortly after the penis is healed.
- That could all be true, but there is a higher chance of meatitis which is inflammation of the opening of the penis. There is also a risk of injury to the penis during the surgery. We therefore decided our son would not be circumcised and we have not regretted our decision.
