- Edith finds Louis taking Lady Hamilton's bank notes when she goes to give the jewels back and tells him that she wont tell, but she will help young louis and take care of his mother.

- Lord Arlington asks for Edith's hand in marriage when he sees her walking back from Louis' mothers house. Edith declines but Lord Arlington is insistent. Edith explains she cannot marry someone that is highborn because she is only a poor and humble girl.

- Edith who has always been a poor and humble girl finds out her father is the late Lord Hamilton who married Edith's mother privately because she was poor. Edith finds out she is the rightful heiress to the Hamilton fortune. This news is shocking to Edith because she has always been poor and never knew her mother or father.
