Ch. 4 page 50-Patria didn't go to school with her other mirabal sisters that year. Patria decided to help her father instead with the farm. He had an extra pair of hands, he was a boy named pedrito Gonzalez. Patria and Pedrito noticed each other before but she couldn't talk to him then because she went to school. Patria started talking to him more and more and they've gotten closer over the years.
Ch 4 page 51- Patra and Pedrito became lovers and got married. Patria's father wanted her to wait until she was 16 to get married. So that is what they did, they gathered all of their things and went to Ojo de Agua to get married. Once they were married Patria got pregnant.Patria has been pregnant for a while and she got homesick so she decided to visit her sisters.
ch.4 page 52- Patria went to visit the family. Minerva and Patria were talking in the house about praying and wondering how many pieces of hair they had on each other's head. Minerva was counting the hairs on Patria's head seeing how much she had. Patria was in an early pregnancy and realized that her water broke and that she went into labor. Patria knew the baby was not ready so she realized she was giving birth to a dead baby.
