One day, Enkidu lay in bed stricken with sickness. Second day, the sickness gotten worse with Gilgamesh watching over. Third day, calling out Gilgamesh, rousing him up. Enkidu gets really weak and starts going blind. Ten to twelve days, the suffering in the bed of pain has gotten worse.
"I once ran to you for the water of life, and now I am nothing"
Gilgamesh weaps for 7 days and 7 nights. He tells the people to build a statue of Enkidu as a memorial and leaves Uruk.
"My friend, the great goddess cursed me, and I have to die in shame. I don't want to die in battle, but to die in battle means to be happy. Now I must die in bed, the place for shame."
