- Dad why don’t you vote?
- well we’re metics so we will never be able to vote.
- the democracy in Athens is a little more complicated than the democracy in the U.S. it has many more rules. You can’t be a woman to vote or be a citizen.
- Yep, i sure did and i didn’t get the one i voted for.
- Athens had a direct democracy which means that they voted directly on laws as shown in the next picture.
- this is a place in the U.S. they most likely voted for a representative.
- wow I’m way in the future.

- They vote at a place called the pnyx. Women could not vote on laws and neither could metics or slaves.
- In Athens people had to be land owning men to vote. They also had to be 18+.
- its a very rainy day and it looks like they are having a setion.
- This is a random town, but they may have voted for a representative.
- this is what the inside of a court looks like.
- This is where the judge would sit and the person that is next to them is the one in trouble or who broke a law.
- this is a court used for seeing if people are going to jail or not. They have two sides usually. To be a citizen you have to be born or naturalized. They also had to be 18+.
