On the first day, God created the "heavens" and the "earth", referring to the sky and the land. He also created lightness and darkness and separated the two from each other, calling them day and night.

On the third day, God created dry land. By doing so, there is now land found above water. He also named the largest bodies of water "seas", and created all plant life. These plants are to be able to reproduce and sustain themselves.

On the fourth day, God created the stars, moon, and the sun. These were created to help tell time and distinguish between night and day.
On the fifth, God created any and every animal found within the waters. He also created birds and insects, and made it that those species could reproduce.
On the sixth day, God created all animals that live on dry land, as well as man. He ordered man to reproduce and populate the Earth in order to subdue it.
