- George is characterized to be almost parental over Lennie. In these quotes, you can see how he scolds him for petting a dead mouse, and feels regretful when he sees how hard Lennie is taking it.

- Lennie is characterized as childlike due to his mental disability. He depends on George to take care of him and loves rabbits, therefore he dreams of owning rabbits on a farm alongside George.
- Two themes I believe are being established in Ch. 1 are the importance of friendship and trying to achieve dreams. George and Lennie are two very close friends who depend on each otherin order to thrive. They have a dream to own a farm with a bunch of animals and simply just live in what they assume to be luxury

- I predict that the ranch they are about to work at will find out about Lennie's disability and try to cast him out in a severely cruel way. I know for a fact that their dream won't come true, and I believe that this could be the reason why. Maybe.
